Although, I was just getting over a case of the swine flu. Brian and I went out, yet again, this past Saturday.
The destinations this trip were Kings River Falls & Sam’s Throne. Two places that I have always wanted to see.
The day started out great. We left Conway around 9:00 and headed straight for King’s River Falls. The only downside to the day was the lack of clouds; which would hinder the possibility to take good photos of Kings River Falls. However, the temperature and everything else was just perfect on Saturday, it was a good day to get out.
Brian and I took a bit of a different route on the way to Kings River Falls, we headed up highway 21 north of Clarksville, which would take us straight to the gravel road turn off for the falls. The gravel road down into Kings River Falls was a great road, not too bumpy at all.
Along the way Brian and I stopped at some of the random old abandoned houses and got some pretty decent photos. There was one really cool old house that you could tell was abandoned. It had two stories and the back portion of the house was being used a chicken coop. We entered the house but didn’t’ venture too much further in, because it appeared to be falling apart. Not wanting to take the chance of falling through a floor and breaking bones, we shot a couple of photos and immediately departed.

The next stop was Kings River Falls. The Kings River had quite a bit of water running through it, and you could tell the water was high before Brian and I had arrived. I’m guessing last week or the week before the river was raging, because a lot of the vegetation along the shore was laid down and had deposits of grass wrapped around the stalks.
The hike into Kings River Falls is a pretty easy, laid back, hike. Upon arriving at the falls I was immediately reminded of Falling Water Falls. Kings River Falls over the ledge of the waterfall in almost the exact way, but opposite, of Falling Water Falls. It was quite interesting. There were a few people there who were swimming as well, which made the place seem very appealing to me. I always enjoy jumping off of waterfalls into the swimming holes which they have created, especially on a hot summer day. This might just be a place to return to next summer.
Kings River Falls
Off of Kings River Falls lies a small creek. If you hike upstream of that creek there are a few waterfalls and cascades along the way. Although, the sun was strong directly over the river, this little creek was completely covered over in vegetation which made it a great creek to photograph.

This next photo features a small ~8ft waterfall that is directly above the previous waterfall and directly below the next ~25ft waterfall found on the creek.

The next waterfall found along the creek is a ~25 ft waterfall that is yet to be named. The water wasn’t running too quickly, but you could tell that after a heavy rain, this would be a cool waterfall to photograph.

After photographing the twin fall upstream of the small creek, I hiked back down to Kings River Falls, met up with Brian, and we headed for the next destination of the day…
