This photo was taken on the recent Collins Creek trip with Brian Cormack. I just never got around to viewing all of my shots and upon seeing them tonight I found this one to be quite decent.

I hope you enjoy this shot from Collins Creek.

I haven’t had a shot of the day in a while, but as I was perusing my photos from yesterday, I found a good one. I enhanced the green of the image a bit, and it turned out wonderful. So here is my shot of the day, a picture taken at Collins Creek.

I met a local photographer named Brian Cormack through his photos on Flickr. We went to Heber Springs at Greers Ferry Lake to a place known as Collins Creek. It is a creek created by runoff from the lake to provide a habitat for trout. The creek is amazing, there are about 50 different waterfalls in a 200ft range up and down the creek. It was definitely an amazing place, a true photographers playground.

I had a lot of fun and got some amazing photos to show for it. Brian is a cool guy and a great photographer, you can check out his photography at his website: http://www.cormackphotos.com He’s got some great shots from the same area that he took earlier this year.

Now for the photos.

First, we went up the Mossy Bluff Trail, which was honestly a waste of time. At a different time of year this might be a pretty decent trail, but there was much left to be desired at this point in time. This was the only decent shot I got from this trail. There is an interesting overlook at the very end that looks over the Little Red River and the dam. However, you can easily reach that area by vehicle and park at the convenient parking lot. It was fun, but nothing compared to Collins Creek.

Below is a typical from Collins Creek, there are so many interesting little waterfalls along this creek that you could probably visit it 20 times and still see something different. It was quite a unique place and definitely worth the 1 hour trip it took to get there.

I noticed this leaf clinging to the rock beneath the water, I took the shot and botched the focus a bit, but the colors came out pretty good. I enhanced them a bit in photoshop for the overall effect and I think it turned out quite well. I especially like the way the water appears at the very bottom of the photo.

Collins Creek in all it’s glory, I noticed this tree leaning over the creek and figured it would add a nice touch to the photo. I can’t think Brian enough for showing me such a cool place, I’ll have to take Caden up there sometime to show her all the neat little waterfalls.

This is actually a shot from beneath the runoff pipe where the water first enters the creek. I figured it would make a nice photo if I didn’t show the pipe, it turned out pretty good. I like the way the light floods in from above.

When I was taking the shot above I looked over my shoulder to find this rather large spider spinning a web. I stuck with this one because I love the way the bokeh frames the spider from behind, not only that the web is just perfect. I think this beats my previous photo of a spider which you can find in the animals section of my galleries.

One cool thing about the creek is that there are many stationary rocks surrounded by water. So if you slow your shutter speed down just right you can get this neat effect. Everything is moving but the rocks hold fast.

This might be my favorite shot. It was taken as we were leaving, the sun was shining through the trees. I intentionally took this shot so that I could later transform it into an infrared image. The colors this time of year are very green, but I figured they would look better in their fall glory. Converting the image to infrared does just that and makes for a pretty interesting effect. I think it turned out awesome.

That was the best series from the shots I got on the trip. I only took 250 this time and got quite a few that were really good. I’d like to thank Brian for taking me to such an awesome place. I had fun and got some pretty awesome photos to show for the trip.
